Born in Brittany and based in Paris, Raphaël Pontais is a qualified multidisciplinary designer specialising in furniture and interior objects.
In 2021, he began his career in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, collaborating with interior architects and decorators on furniture collections for hotels and private residences in Europe and across the Atlantic.
First revealed with his Rooly seat during the 2023 edition of Paris Design Week, he has since presented his work in Milan, Eindhoven, at the Villa Noailles festival, in Paris, and more recently in New York.
Represented by the Parisian gallery Anne Jacquemin Sablon since 2024, he has made his entrance onto the US scene. His pieces have been shown at distinguished addresses, from Ashlee Harrison’s Upper East Side townhouse to the Art + Design fair on Park Avenue, and are now on permanent display in the West Village at Delbert Arthur.
Following this debut in high-end artisanal and sculptural design, Raphaël Pontais also turned to industrial design, a long-standing source of inspiration, joining the Ora Ito studio in 2025.
